Specialist Commissions

2019 has been a year of unusual commissions. If only I was a necessary part of their travels; I do not see them installed and often they are in private locations so photos from designers are not possible.

It was wonderful to hear from Studio Gathe that this large round Flow was for the Nobel Suite of the Grand Hotel in Oslo, which is given to the Nobel Prize winners each year.

Matthew Trustam Design commissioned this enormous work for a palace; I really enjoyed making the porcelain colours shift to work with the flowing texture.

As a child, I lived briefly in Singapore and once was taken to tea at The Raffles Hotel; with a long history of liaisons and partings. For the last two years it has undergone a major re-furbishment and I am really delighted to have works commissioned by Art Advisory Service for the presidential suites and in the mezzanine of the lobby.

Some of the sailors among you might recognise this river in Cornwall, where a private client has built a fabulous river-side home for this commission.

Olive Wong commissioned a pair of graded gold works for a private apartment in Hong Kong; these were the first graded colour works I have made and they have 18 different tones of yellow in them.

I made a large two-tone gold work earlier in the year which I loved. I only have a studio snapshot of it before it was framed in ebony by Peter Millard to go to Hong Kong.

Lastly, it was interesting to take on these works, different to regular Flows, for Sophie Paterson. These two were for different private residences and, although very delicate, were both unusually specified to be left uncovered.
